SHE plays the leading role in a US drama series, but this time TV star Rachael Carpani happily played the bridesmaid - at her sister Georgia's wedding.

The former McLeods Daughter favourite jetted in from the US for her younger sibling's nuptials this weekend.

But Carpani says she would have loved to have combined the wedding with next weekend's NRL final.

"I fly out Monday so I miss the final - so let's not talk about that. It's weird because I wasn't that into the footy until I moved to America and realised it was so hard to find [on TV]."

"And obviously coming back for the wedding is a great reason to return, it's something I would never miss, or I don't think it would have been worth living if I missed it."

Her fleeting visit comes at the end of completing her first season filming on US crime series Against The Wall, also starring Emmy Award winner Kathy Baker.

"A lot of people have asked me if I felt extra pressure, being the lead. I think I did after it was done, I didn't allow myself to think about it at the time otherwise I may not have shown up for work because it was such a big cast, Treat Williams and Kathy Baker playing my parents, I really thought I better not F this up."

Having recently split from long-term boyfriend Matt Passmore - whom she met on the set of McLeods and who has also landed a Stateside lead in The Glades - the 31 year-old simply labelled her newfound single life as "very happy''.

She hopes to return to work in Australia for the right project.

"I like to keep Sydney as my base, which is only one month a year at this point but I like to think of it as my home and of course I'd love to film back here one day.''

Curtains fall on Hollywood couple Matt Passmore and Rachael Carpani

  • July 23, 2011 12:00AM byFiona Byrne

THEY fell for each other among the horses and hay on McLeod's Daughters and then found success on separate TV dramas in the US, but now the romance has ended for Matt Passmore and Rachael Carpani.

The handsome couple called quits on their relationship earlier this month after almost five years together.

Passmore's Australian agent, RGM, confirmed the split.

"Matt and Rachael have parted ways," a spokeswoman for RGM said.

"They have great respect for each other and remain good friends."

Passmore is building a solid career in the US where he is filming the second season of the crime drama, The Glades.

Carpani had a guest role in the first series.

She is soon to be seen in the police drama, Against the Wall, in which she has the lead role as an internal affairs officer.

The show is expected to premiere in the US at the end of the month.
