GOLD Logie-nominated actor Simmone Jade Mackinnon and award-winning film director Simon Portus have pooled their talents to produce a new online video  on Switched On Coffs.tv aimed at attracting new residents to the Coffs Coast.

The new video, which is launched today, showcases the region's beauty, its accessibility, high speed broadband and lifestyle advantages for those looking to relocate.

The video was filmed and directed by Valla-based documentary maker Simon Portus, whose many achievements include winning Best Director at the 2010 St Kilda Film Festival.

It features Simmone, a former Gold Logie nominee and Coffs Coast resident, who has starred in Atilla, Cats, McLeod's Daughters and Baywatch, among many other television and film credits.

"It's wonderful that the Coffs Coast has an actor as renowned as Simmone Jade Mackinnon to feature in the video. The fact that she lives here on the Coffs Coast says a great deal in itself about the city's lifestyle, technology, business success and creative industries," Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight said.

"Both Simon and Simmone are to be congratulated for their contributions to produce such a quality film which captures the key attractions of the Coffs Coast lifestyle."

Cr Knight went on to say the new video showcases the region's beauty, its accessibility, high speed broadband and lifestyle advantages for those looking to relocate.

"Switched On Coffs.tv showcases what Coffs Harbour has to offer families and professionals looking to relocate to a regional city for a better lifestyle," Simmone said.

"Many of us share a passion to build the potential for the growth of the creative industries here in Coffs Harbour and to utilise film and the online media as a means to attract investment and relocation to our city.

"Switched On Coffs and broadband are great enablers for us to build the community and city we want for our future.

"I'd encourage other creative people, technology developers, travellers and business people to get on board by contributing to and promoting the website."
